Family Portraits at Home on Sauvie Island – Portland, OR

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on November 22nd, 2013

family-childrens-portraits-at-homeThe Kessi family has been such a joy to photograph over the past several years, with our history together stretching back to 2007 when I first photographed young lovebirds Bob & Carrie for their engagement session.  I shot their wedding the following year, and since then the family has expanded to include two beautiful babies who are growing up so fast I can hardly keep up! I was so thrilled to capture the arrival of Bob and Carrie’s baby daughter, with her proud parents beaming with joy during those precious first weeks of her new life.  I was there to experience the same elation with the Kessi family all over again when their baby boy came into the world, and it’s been a real privilege capturing the beautiful evolution of this fantastic family from engagement to marriage, newborn portraits and now as the babies are becoming toddlers, hamming it up for family portraits as their little personalities shine brighter and brighter.  Long story short: I guess you could say we go way, way back. unique-children's-portraits (more…)

Family Portraits in St. John’s – Portland, OR

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on November 19th, 2013

The Michel family is one of my favorite regulars, Friends for Life clients for many years now.  The last session we had was for the little dude’s newborn portraits, so as you can see it’s been awhile!  Emily and I became friends years ago while working together on an eco-friendly wedding show – Emily runs her own eco-friendly event company – and we’ve been in touch both personally and professionally ever since. Weirdly, Emily, her husband Pete and I all grew up in Virginia, then lived in San Francisco, then moved to Portland – but it was only here in the Rose City that we finally met! The same path I took in live, serendipitous friends, I suppose. For this latest portrait session, we met at Cathedral Park under the St. John’s Bridge on Dia De Los Muertos and the fall colors couldn’t have been more vibrant. We picked Cathedral Park because it’s one of my favorite places to have a shoot near their home in NE Portland, I love the dramatic architecture of the bridge even more this time of year. The four Michels were dressed perfectly for the session, and I just love the little girl’s glasses oh so much!! She looks like a little star! Thanks to Emily, Pete and their two terrific kids – I love capturing you guys as the years roll by in the beautiful Northwest. It’s this kind of longterm client relationship  that I love most about being a family portrait photographer, so I couldn’t appreciate it more.

Family Portraits in Rose City Park – Portland, OR

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on November 14th, 2013

I recently met Tricia through (my favorite thing) Portland Adventure Boot Camp for Women, and I was really excited when she asked me about shooting some new fall family portraits for she, her husband Matt and their two precocious boys. Tricia & Matt and their two sons met me at Rose City Park for a lovely outdoor session on a gorgeous fall day, and I had a great time capturing the family while keeping in mind Tricia’s special request. Her and Matt’s youngest boy was just as wild and crazy as Tricia had prepared me to expect, and they’ve had some trouble in the past with photographers being able to capture many nice shots of him given his super-energetic nature. Luckily, I shot fast and planned ahead, and we got some real gems from our session together. Tricia & Matt are such a lovely couple, and their oldest boy was totally relaxed and very photogenic, making our session very pleasant despite warnings about the little tornado ;) Thanks so much to Tricia for approaching me with the job – I always work with my clients to capture their families however they require. Now that Tricia and family are Friends for Life, I look forward to photographing them more in the future.

Senior Portraits in the Pearl – Portland, OR

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on November 13th, 2013

One of the best things about shooting senior grad portraits for Portland teens is how uniquely each other their personalities affects every individual shoot. Teenagers have so much personality, which manifests in so many ways during a senior portrait shoot — from personal style to general attitude to wanting (or not) their parents around during our session — and makes all the difference in how I’m able to capture their essence at that crucial age between childhood and adulthood.  Philip is a super cool kid (young man, I should say) who brought so much fun energy and confident presence to our portrait session in the Pearl.High-School-Senior-PhotosHigh-School-Senior-Portraits

Fall Family Portraits on Sauvie Island – Portland, OR

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on November 12th, 2013

For me – both personally and professionally – fall in Portland is synonymous with Sauvie Is

land. Every year I am lucky enough to shoot a number of portrait sessions on the gorgeous grounds of Kruger’s Farm, and 2013 has been an especially fruitful fall for my family portrait clients.  My Boot Camp buddy Andrea got in touch awhile back because she and her handsome hubby Ben wanted updated portraits of the whole family in time for the holidays, plus some shots of the kids for Hanukkah gifts and to decorate the walls of their home.  (more…)
