In honor of our Open House tomorrow evening, June 1, at the Ford Building, we thought it’d be nice to shine a little spotlight on some of our favorite neighbors: Foxfire Teas, Duchess Clothier, and Fieldwork flowers. Portland is special for so many reasons, not the least of which is its local music scene. The Rocky Butte Wranglers are an old-fashioned country band with a fresh sense of humor and a whole lot of youthful energy. We caught up with them just before a show at the Landmark Saloon recently to capture the band in preparative action, lucking out with a delightfully sunny day and the perfect musical accompaniment of the group’s show. The band features our dear friend Mary Rondthaler front and center with her guitar, along with new buddies Kevin Healy (on fiddle), Russell Gores (playing the upright bass), Tommy Chiffon (on drums) and Harley James (pedal steel & vocals). They played a great set with guest player Jenn Huckins doubling up on fiddle along with Healy. Marywynn Ryan and her staff at Skin by Marywynn are some of our favorite people in Portland. They specialize in exquisite facials and other full-service pampering experiences, not to mention having created the best skin care line in the region, Skin by Marywynn! We stopped by their NW salon to capture a new portrait of Marywynn (with her fab new haircut by Jodie of Salon 220!) and her staff, including their newest member, salon manager Allie! (more…)
OMG…cute overload! Just look at that squishy little face! Baby D is the newest member of the Whitaker family, a fantastic clan who were referred to us by our friend Gina. Teeny, tiny Baby D has so much personality with so few days of life under his proverbial belt; he was only a week old when I visited the Whitaker home! I really love taking newborn portraits at home, capturing the little new arrival in their family element at their most comfortable and surrounded by all these strange new faces of the family he or she has just met! As a special treat, we were lucky enough to capture some shots of the newborn with his ecstatic grandparents visiting from California. Thanks again to the Whitaker family (our newest Friends for Life member!) for opening up their home and life to my eye…I can’t wait to see Baby D grow up!
Romeo is an adorable kid whom we met through our volunteer work with the Oregon Heart Gallery and the Boys & Girls Aid association, which is a group that helps foster children find their forever homes. Romeo was so much fun to photograph; he’s got such an energetic, free spirit, and we’re hoping so much that our photos of him will help him find his perfect match with the forever home that’s just right for this wonderful little guy. We shot adorable Romeo at his SE Portland foster home, making sure he was optimally comfortable in his own element. We can’t wait to see this little guy grow and what great things he has in store for the future.
