The arrival of a new baby is such an exciting time in life. I couldn’t be more happy for my dear friends Amy and Jason about the pending arrival of their little one! In celebration of this time in their lives Amy and I got together in my studio to put together a collection of pregnancy portraits and to document the evidence of this little munchkin’s presence on earth. Mom, Dad and adorable big brother Oscar will be such a wonderful and loving family for this lucky baby to join! Congratulations!!!

This summer we happily welcome Rachel Haeger to Rosemary Ragusa Photography for an internship. She has already been a great asset to the team and is helping us with various tasks in and out of the studio. You may meet her in the next few months and I’m sure you’ll find her to be helpful and energetic! She has just finished her degree in Design Management from the Art Institute in NW Portland. She and I are working together on producing an organized business plan and operations manual. We are also working on various design projects. If you are looking for a person in your company with Rachel’s skills or are looking for a photography internship of your own please do get in touch.

Basic Rights Oregon and CAUSA – Portraits

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on July 13th, 2011

Jeana Frazzini Business PortraitFrancisco Lopez Business Portraits

I’ve been working with Basic Rights Oregon for a number of years now. They are one of my favorite organizations in town, I love what they stand for and the people in the organization. Naturally I jumped at the chance to work with them again when the Gill Foundation asked me to photography their director Jeana Frazzini at work in their downtown offices. Jeana leads Basic Rights Oregon which is a statewide non-profit committed to ensuring that all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Oregonians experience equality by building a broad and inclusive politically powerful movement, shifting public opinion, and achieving policy victories. It’s great to know someone so committed to what she does and what she believes in.

Basic Basic Rights Oregon and the Gill Foundation have been working with the organization CAUSA. CAUSA is Oregon’s statewide, grassroots immigrant rights coalition and the largest Hispanic civil and human rights, and advocacy organization in the Pacific Northwest. CAUSA is led by their distinguished executive director Francisco Lopez. Jeana, Francisco and other members of their organizations have put together a program called Standing Together. This book is a tool for bringing together organizations of LGBT and racial equality.

Portrait Photography – Portland

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on July 13th, 2011

I do all of the photography for my dear friend and business ally Marywynn Ryan, owner of a facial salon in NW Portland called Skin by Marywynn. Since Marywynn is such a wonderful service provider business is booming and she’s hired on the lovely and talented Liz Jones. Liz is a make up artist and is working at the front desk of Marywynn’s salon. A warmth is instantly felt when Liz flashes her winning smile at you as you walk through the doors.

I wanted to capture Liz’s beautiful smile and sparkling eyes in this portrait.

Legacy Portraits with Gee Gee

Legacy-Portraits

This year we’ve launched a new collection for our portrait clients and it’s a personal favorite of mine. I’m working with a writer and taking portraits that will tell the story of a senior citizen’s life – We call them Legacy Portraits. In order to prepare for the Legacy Portrait Collection I asked my friend Jennifer if her family would like to have a session. I ended up meeting Jennifer’s sister Nancy, and mother Gee Gee the three of them are such a joy to know and photograph. I had 2 portrait sessions, one with Gee Gee and her daughters and another just with Gee Gee alone. Once the sessions were complete I asked the family to supply me with a few images that helped to visually tell the story of their family. We scanned those images in and put them together with our favorite images from the portraits I took. The results were a beautiful book that tells the story of Gee Gee. If you are interested in an interesting way to tell to story of a loved ones life please consider this collection.
