A successful small business really depends on personal connection, getting a great headshot that shows off your personality to the world is an absolute must. Take one look at Sandy and try to tell me you don’t want her to sell your house!

One of the best perks about being an event photographer in Portland is getting total access to all kinds of get-togethers, including concerts like the N.E.D. benefit held ast month at the Aladdin Theater in SE Portland. N.E.D. stands for No Evidence of Disease, and the concert was a fundraising event for cancer research put together by N.E.D. and Spark Media. Each member of the band N.E.D. is an oncologist in a different town across the U.S.; they come together for these events to raise funds for cancer research. The crowd was filled with thankful clients of the local doctor who plays with the band, Will Winter, MD. Many thanks to Shelly Heesacker, a long-term client of ours who hooked us up with N.E.D. to photograph the event.

I love my assistant and friend – Gabe Rodriguez. So it comes as no surprise to me that I find the members of his family to be charming and adorable. His sister Megan is no exception to the rule. And her fiance Michael will be a perfect addition to the family. In preparation for the big day in July, Megan and Michael came up to Portland from Florence for a day of cake tastings (yum! – Gabe and I got to try some of the cake samples too) and a portrait session with me! We had a lovely time frolicking about in the park on an amazingly BEAUTIFUL and warm January afternoon. Gotta love the weird winter weather in Portland.
I’m so looking forward to shooting their wedding this summer in Florence.

We love doing product photography for our favorite local designer…. Here’s a sneak peek from our Fall 2011 Catalog shoot for Souchi, the Portland-based luxury knitwear label, with more to come in mid-March. Designer Suzi Johnson owns and operates the Souchi boutique, located on lovely NW 23rd Ave., which offers all the upscale handmade threads from Suzi’s latest collection.

We had so much fun with the Lensbaby crew during the video we made with them last December, which showed off the latest and greatest of Lensbaby products designed and packaged specifically for senior portrait photographers. Johnny was the male model for the shoot, an actual senior getting portraits taken…playing an actual senior getting portraits taken! He was such a great sport, bringing his beloved tuba along to the studio shoot and transfixing all of us with his incredible musical abilities. Best of luck in the future, Johnny…not that you’ll need much luck with all that talent!
