Winter Wedding Photography at the Rose Garden – Portland, OR

Posted by Rosemary Ragusa on January 27th, 2011

We couldn’t be happier for our studio neighbor Megan (the florist extraordinaire behind Fieldwork), who was recently wed to her handsome new husband Corey. We were lucky enough to photograph Megan & Corey’s exciting day, which was held in SW Portland at the gorgeous Rose Garden (in season or out of bloom, the place is a feast for the eyes). The affair was quite modest but totally lovely, with close family in attendance. Megan’s magnificent vintage wedding dress is from Xtabay vintage clothing boutique (where else could you find such a stunning gown?) and the men’s suits are by the exceptional Portland tailors Duchess Clothier. What a well-outfitted couple!

We love photographing families (in case you hadn’t heard), and the holidays were rife with opportunity to capture everyone together as relatives near and far came together in Portland to celebrate and make merry for a few days out of the long, busy year. The wonderful Reece clan is one such family, with all the siblings together again at last with mom & dad. This session of a gift from the kids to mom – who had been dying for a family portrait for some time. Knowing that mom wanted this, the kids pitched in a got her this cherished gift that will last a lifetime! Pretty awesome kids, eh?

We always encourage our portrait clients to bring in pets, props, favorite outfits, etc… anything to make them feel more comfortable and express their true selves during our shoot. The hilarious Jacobson clan really took our suggestions to heart, bringing along their dog, a unicycle, a viking hat, some crazy shoulder pads…we could go on forever! The family had so much fun hamming it up for us and in turn, we had a blast too! Thanks to the Jacobsons for being such great portrait subjects…and for giving us such a fun shoot!

We just love capturing perfect moments between families, especially when they come to us looking for something special to commemorate the special bond they share. That’s what happened with the lovely Amanda, a local make-up artist extraordinaire and co-owner of Pretty in Portland, who approached us with a few fab ideas about photographing her with her handsome hubby & their two young boys. We had such a great time working with the family and combining some of our ideas with some of theirs. Thanks so much to the fantastic Everly fam for the great experience!

With so many loved ones traveling near and far to be with each other for the holidays, the studio was a very busy place in December. One of our favorite clients (and fellow Bootcamp beauty!) Beverly Markstrom arranged for a family portrait session at the studio just before Christmas, the perfect time to capture some everlasting moments while her lovely daughter, dashing son-in-law and their absolutely adorable little boy were up visiting from southern California for the week. Dad is an active officer in the Navy, and it was important to and with only a little time left before outgrows his own matching sailor suit, we took full advantage of the opportunity. Like father, like son! Thanks again to Beverly for introducing us to her fantastic fam.
